We require individuals to assist with surveying to identify/confirm the presence and status of badger setts and badger-related activity at our sites. All information is collected via your mobile/tablet using an application called epicollect.

Experience in sett surveying and identification of badger activity is desirable but training and shadowing opportunities will be available.

This is quite a time commitment so we normally break the rounds down into small teams to share the workload. This is really rewarding work and you will learn so much about badgers and you will be welcome to attend on the vaccination mornings too. Training and shadowing opportunities will be available.

Pre-baiting is best undertaken in the afternoons, up to 1-2 hours prior to sunset. We would ask that a minimum of 4 afternoons could be committed to for each round. This work is restricted to the months of May to October.

Following pre-baiting, the traps are set for two consecutive morning captures. Setting traps is a licensable activity and must be completed by personal that have received specific training and who are listed on the licence. Full training would be provided for this role, although experiences members will be prioritised for 2022 training.

We would ask that a minimum of 1 afternoon could be committed to for each round, with 2 rounds per season. This work is restricted to the months of May to October.
